Over the weekend, Michael Costa Racing saddled up three runners in Queensland for two winners and a third. All three runners were ridden by Daniel Griffin who has now had six rides for Michael Costa Racing with three winners, a second and two thirds.
Wall Street Lass on the six day back up headed to the Sunshine Coast Friday night meeting. The Manhattan Rain filly jumped from barrier 9 and was handy out of the gates. Griffin got her to the middle of the track and she was able to beat the older horses to break her maiden.
Michael’s Comments: “Great effort by the filly, she arrived at the Gold Coast the Friday prior and raced on the Saturday at the Gold Coast. On a six day back up she did not miss a beat throughout the week and on my ratings I thought she would be very hard to beat at the Sunshine Coast. It was also great for the syndicate as there are many first time owners in her that are still carrying a few sore heads after their celebrations on Friday night”.
Red Dynamite continued his dominance at the Gold Coast making it two wins from two starts at the track. He had to overcome the wide barrier and top weight of 61.5kg.
Michael’s Comments: “Gutsy run by big Red. His grand final will be in two weeks back at the Gold Coast where there is a metropolitan meeting being held at the track. He will come down in the weights and hopefully go onto make it three from three.”
Last Try Wins settled back in the field on Sunday at the Sunshine Coast and came from last to finish third.
Michael’s Comments: “He raced a little dower today and has pulled up flat. He didn’t show his normal turn of foot and will need a short freshen up.”
